Abuja - President Goodluck Jonathan has given an order to government
ministries and departments to make use of locally produced vehicles.
He
spoke at an event organised by the Stallion Group, makers of Nissan
vehicles in Nigeria, to showcase the first five 'Made-in-Nigeri' Nissan
vehicles to the government to mark their local production and
commemorate the restoration of democracy in the country.Stallion’s Group Chairman, Sunil Vaswani, who led the Stallion-Nissan
delegation to Abuja, presented three models of Nissan vehicles to
President Jonathan.
He commended the federal government’s
automotive policy initiative, describing it as a historic step towards
industrial and economic rejuvenation.
Vaswani thanked the
president for the national automotive policy initiative that facilitated
the production of Nissan vehicles in Nigeria.
The models
included the Nissan Patrol Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV), Nissan Almera
(Sunny) saloon car and the Nissan NP 300 pick-up.
